With two Oscars to her name and another one on the horizon, Cate Blanchett is a global superstar. So why is she selling her house and heading off with her family on a journey into the unknown?
Babies’ delighted gurgles are seldom heard on photo-shoots, but that is exactly what I think I can detect. I tiptoe past a wardrobe rack loaded with feathered and sculpted gowns, past the suited security guards keeping an eye on the diamonds, past the gift bags of Giorgio Armani Sì – the perfume for which Cate Blanchett is the global face – and peek through a half-open door to see the lady herself, beaming and ethereally blonde in the bright lights of a make-up mirror, lifting her kicking 10-month-old baby Edith aloft. Laughing alongside her is the make-up artist Mary Greenwell, who also happens to be Edith’s godmother.

After years of showing during Paris Fashion Week, Alexander McQueen is planning a London homecoming.
The official London Fashion Week schedule was published today, revealing that Sarah Burton will unveil her autumn/winter 2016 collection for the brand in London on Sunday 21 February.
No further details about the show have yet been released, but it’s believed that the move will be a one-off for the London-based house, rather than a permanent one.
