Diane Kruger on Town & Country August 2016 Cover

Actress Diane Kruger lands the August 2016 cover of Town & Country Magazine, wearing a Gucci jacket and denim photographed by Victor Demarchelier. Inside the magazine, Diane Kruger poses in summer-ready looks from the likes of Ralph Lauren and Miu Miu. Hitting newsstands on July 5th, the feature also includes an interview with the former model.

Talking about becoming a model at 15-years-old, Diane says, “This whole other life opened for me in Paris. I met actors; I watched films. When I was growing up, the movie theater was 20 miles from my house, I spent every day watching The Nanny. After a few years in Paris I realized I wanted to go to drama school.”

She also talks about having an identity crisis at 30, revealing, “I had become arrogant. I had been a model, I spoke three languages, I had a career. I felt I had figured it all out. And then I realized that I was living in this very privileged life in my own bubble that I created and I [didn’t] know anything about what [was] really going on in the world and I [didn’t] ask enough questions… I made a lot of different choices. I cut people out of my life who I felt were enabling my bubble.”

Are you as obsessed with French style as much as we are? From the ingeniously concise ways these girls craft capsule wardrobes to our newfound love for their country’s first ever online-only label, Sézane, it’s not just the lofty runways of Paris Fashion Week that fascinate us.

The French fashion crew may not get as heavily street style snapped as, say, the Italians, but that’s because their outfits aren’t outré and are rarely lens-attracting. But that doesn’t mean they’re any lesser in terms of real-life impact. These ladies are subtle, classic and often wearing the very same outfit they wore last week and the week before that… And the week before that. They’re the kind of women we aim to dress like more often—chic but not try-hard, casual but somehow smart, trendy but never slavish to trends.

So of course you know styling gurus like Carine Roitfeld already, but what of some of other sartorial luminaries that fly un petit peu under the radar? Scroll down to see the French fillies whose wardrobes we’d like to raid—then shop for sophisticated buys to match them.

Giambattista Valli Embraces Florals for Spring 2016 Couture

Giambattista-Valli-Spring-2016-Haute-Couture-Runway08

When it comes to flowers, Giambattista Valli is no stranger to featuring blooms in his designs, but with his spring 2016 haute couture showing, it came with an emotional connection. After the November terrorist attacks in Paris, the Italian designer created this collection as a thank you to the City of Light. Valli found inspiration from famous Parisian gardens including the Tuileries, Jardin du Luxembourg and Parc de Bagatelle.

Appliquéd mini dresses transformed into high-low hemlines as well as ruffle adorned sleeves. Besides the flowers, sixties inspired silhouettes stood out with A-line dresses and capelets adorning a few looks. For his finale gowns, Valli looked to an empire silhouette–absolute show-stoppers with voluminous pleating.
